MB: As you know, the U.S. has experienced a labor shortage in healthcare for years. What are your best tips for travelers during the staffing shortage?
EA: Our advice would be to make sure they go in with the mentality of being strong willed and determined to do the job to the fullest ability, regardless of trials and tribulations.
MB: What trends are you seeing in the healthcare staffing industry?
EA: Right now, the healthcare trend is unknown. COVID-19 has thrown the healthcare staffing industry for a loop, so we are constantly adapting and changing to the market needs.
MB: Where across the U.S. are you seeing a strong demand for healthcare?
EA: We’ve consistently seen that California always has a higher demand for registered nurses (RNs).
MB: Other than nursing, what types of jobs are you seeing a high demand for?
EA: Labor and delivery (L&D), operating room (OR), and cath lab are in high demand.
MB: What are some common questions you hear from travelers?
EA: The most common questions we hear are:
- Where should I look for housing? To that, we’d say Furnished Finders is a great option!
- How long does compliance take? Compliance takes about two to three weeks.
- How many years of experience do I need to travel? Typically, you need at least two years of experience, but this depends on your division and specialty.
MB: What advice would you give to first-time healthcare travelers?
EA: Expect the unexpected, be a sponge, and use your first assignment as a learning experience!
