How To Stand Out on Job Applications as a Healthcare Traveler

Written by Cecilia Gillen | 7/11/22 11:00 AM

Wondering how you can increase your visibility as a healthcare traveler? Standing out when you’re applying for jobs and finding your next placement is key in today’s job market. Here’s our tips for how to be seen by employers and best practices for applying to jobs on Marketplace.

Take advantage of the new multi-apply feature

Part of the beauty of Marketplace is that it’s a huge job board, with jobs posted by multiple agencies. Sometimes, the same job is even posted by multiple agencies. This allows you to compare what each agency has to offer against the same job and decide what works best for you. In some cases, though, you may love the job no matter what agency it’s through and may want to increase your odds of placement for that assignment. This is where our new multi-apply feature comes into play.

With this new feature, when a job is offered by multiple agencies you can apply to multiple agencies all in one click. Simply click the agency drop down box on the job listing and click “select all agencies” to apply to all the agencies listed or check off the boxes next to the agencies you want. Then hit “I’m interested” next to the agency drop down box, fill in your information, and send your application!

Like online shopping, when you add multiple items to your cart, you don’t pay for them individually, but all at once with a quick checkout. The same is true for our multi-apply feature. It not only saves you time, but it also allows you to be seen by multiple agencies at once, increasing your visibility and odds of getting the job.

Complete your traveler profile

Building your traveler profile is the most important step to getting noticed by employers. In fact, healthcare travelers who complete their profile are five times more likely to be placed in an assignment. You can’t argue with those numbers!

If you’re new to Marketplace, start by signing up with your first and last name, email address, and phone number. Next, set a password and wait for your confirmation email. After you’ve confirmed your identity, you’ll be taken to your new profile. Now you can start customizing your account.

It’s key for healthcare staffing agencies to get to know you and how amazing you are! Start by introducing yourself with a profile picture, personal biography, and primary specialty. Then you can add:

  • Employment experience
  • Education and certificates
  • License(s)
  • Professional and personal references
  • Skills checklist
  • Other supporting documents

The more you fill out, the better. Plus, once you’re uploaded and saved your credentials, you won’t have re-upload any information. All the paperwork you need to apply for a job is right there to send in one easy click. You can then personalize your profile even more by adding your job preferences like:

  • Healthcare department(s)
  • Specialty/specialties
  • Top five preferred states
  • Top 10 cities
  • Three shift types
  • Three job types
  • Desired pay range

Once you’ve filled out and saved your profile information, you can choose details you want to download as a PDF and then share as your resume across multiple job applications. Even better, you can share all this information with recruiters when you’re applying to jobs, that way they’ll know exactly what you’re looking for in an assignment and have all the information they need when reviewing your application. With these features, you can easily leverage your profile to find and apply to the best travel jobs.

Stand out from the competition

The healthcare market has changed recently, and the high-paying travel jobs we were seeing during COVID are leveling out. The demand for healthcare workers isn’t going anywhere, with the U.S. to see a shortage of 450,000 nurses by 2025. However, the competition for lucrative travel assignments is high, which means marketing yourself as a healthcare professional is more important than ever.

Start by updating your resume and staying organized in your healthcare career as you continue to apply for travel jobs. While your Marketplace profile serves as your resume, if you want to get a step ahead of the competition, try tailoring your resume for each job. One of the best ways to hack your resume for an oversaturated market is to pick out keywords, or healthcare buzzwords, from the job description and add them into your resume. Sprucing up your resume will help ensure employers see your resume so you can land the best assignments!

Once you’ve built out your traveler profile and dusted off your resume, you’re set to start applying to Marketplace jobs. With our one-stop-shop platform, you can easily be seen by multiple agencies at a time, which means better odds for landing your ideal assignment.
