We’re back from TravCon and wow — what a party! If you attended TravCon this year, then you know what a blast it was. And if you weren’t there, well, get ready for some serious FOMO. Here’s a full TravCon recap including a Q&A with travel nurse Kahla Walker!
Travcon 2022 highlights
Fusion Marketplace was a Platinum Sponsor this year at TravCon, where we got to meet so many travelers, share about our new Fusion Marketplace App, and celebrate travelers at so many awesome events! From the Platinum Newbie Reception to our Fusion Marketplace Happy Hour at Beer Park, it was a conference to remember.
In addition to incredible events, TravCon is also a great place to walk around an Exhibition Hall full of staffing agencies stocked with free swag to give away to travelers. Travelers get to learn about new agencies and bring home cool goodies like selfie lights, water bottles, and portable fans — and those are just a few of our favorite Fusion Marketplace swag items!
We also had the pleasure of meeting up with travel nurse, Kahla Walker at TravCon! Check out what she had to say about this year's Traveler Conference.
Q: Walk us through a day at TravCon. What events did you go to?
A: I’d grab breakfast first thing in the morning and head into the conference. Then I spent the rest of the morning walking around to all the different booths, collecting so much swag, entering giveaways, playing games, etc. Some of the giveaways had some incredible gifts like iPads, AirPods, and $3,000 flight vouchers.
For lunch they served a buffet that had options for everyone, which I 10/10 recommend, especially because it was free! After lunch, I filled up my day with educational seminars. The first one I attended was about how to read chest X-rays — super interesting for us nurses! The second seminar was about travel nursing to Australia. The days were jam-packed, but it was so worth it.
Q: Show us what goodies you grabbed from the Fusion Marketplace booth! What did you learn about the Fusion Marketplace App at our booth?
A: The CUTEST + COOLEST little light up fan — my favorite! Selfie light (cause duh!) and a car air freshener, because who doesn’t love a good air freshener?
Fusion Marketplace LOVES travelers, and the team is just as social, bubbly, outgoing, and friendly as you’d expect them to be! I didn’t realize that the Fusion Marketplace App truly has everything you need to know about a potential assignment, like how many beds the facility has, charting systems, positions available, agency details, and more!
Q: What were some of your personal TravCon highlights?
A: Honestly the whole thing was incredible, but being treated so well by all the agencies and companies was probably the best part. It was nice to feel appreciated for all we’ve been through the past couple years as nurses.
Going around and being able to easily network with so many different people from different agencies was also helpful. The most memorable connection I think I made was with the Travel Australia girls. I would love to go to Australia someday for work!
Q: Why should healthcare travelers attend TravCon next year?
A: So. Much. Networking. It was surreal being surrounded by so many people just like you that understand your lifestyle and the same struggles you go through. If you’ve ever felt alone while traveling — go to TravCon! I promise you will meet at least one person to take your next contract with.
You also won’t leave TravCon thinking there are no potential jobs out there for you. You meet enough recruiters and agencies at TravCon to staff you with jobs for the rest of your life.
